Our first store opened its doors in June 2008, trading under the name Plasticland, selling predominantly plastic related items with a focus on storage products, both large and small. The concept proved extremely popular with customers.

Over the next 7 years a further 5 stores were opened in Gauteng and the Western Cape. Even with competitors entering the market, the business continued to grow from strength to strength. This was mainly due to the quality and differentiation of the product, and friendly customer service.

In 2016 the company was sold.  As new owners, we wanted to build on the previous strengths of the business, but at the same time reflect the new, more relevant market conditions. People were becoming more aware of single use plastic, more competitors were entering the typical ‘Plastic store’ market, more customers were persuing value retail offerings due to the tough economic conditions and online shopping was playing a bigger part in retail.

In 2017 we opened a new warehouse in Midrand, Gauteng; a new IT system was installed; new executives joined to strengthen our team and a new look store developed to reflect the changes required and to adapt to the new market conditions.

The first STORE & MORE ‘the home of really useful things’ was opened in October 2017. This was followed shortly thereafter with 2 more stores. Over the next 18 months a further 4 Plasticland stores were rebranded to STORE & MORE.

The stores now offer a much wider selection of products, beyond plastic only items. Really useful merchandise for the whole family can be found with over a 100 categories to choose from. Everything useful from Storage to Houseware and Homewares, Outdoor to Office and School, Party and Play to Seasonal and everything in between can be found in one of our stores.

Our prices are extremely competitive, regular promotions are always on offer, with the ‘DEAL OF THE MONTH’ proving to be extremely popular. The ‘REALLY USEFUL REWARDS’ card was launched in April 2019, another hit with our customers.

As a responsible retailer, STORE & MORE is the first ‘plastic store’ retailer to offer paper carrier bags as an alternative to SUP carrier bags.
